Being in middle school is really where you start to choose what type of crowd you are going to hang out with. Band geek, jocks, computer nerds, skaters, derelicts, and so on. Well somehow my 13 year old has managed to fall into all of the above. He plays the drums, football, basketball, baseball, he is on the robotics team, he skates (on occasion), and last but not least he is a first class derelict! Dip cup upstairs by his bed, naked girls on the computer, and at 2:30 this morning he and his friend were no where to be found!! Are you serious? I called his phone and they came right home, claimed they were walking around the neighborhood. What could they have possibly been doing? Just getting a little exercise, right? OMG!!! Am I really ready for this? Isn't there a place where I could drop him off till he is 18?
I hope Sean is living it up in Auburn this weekend. Apparently he is, $125 at the grocery store and $150 in cash, damn that's a lot of beer and chips. I just bought groceries for the week and spent less. You know, I would be happy with a night by myself in a hotel room. Just me and the black out curtains. Especially after I washed all the kids AE shorts with black ink last night. That's right, every pair and two pair of Sean's Columbia shorts, ruined. I don't think the wine is gonna do the trick this weekend, I better switch to something stronger....like Xanax! Oh well, in the words of my Papa...."You just gotta get to that rainbow...and then if you can get to the end of it, well then that's where you'll be, and then it will all be alright." Nothing like the wisdom of an Alzheimer's patient. :)

I'm not as crazy as I think you thought I was!
My husband, "We (we being him and two of his side kicks) are leaving for Auburn at 6am in the morning and will be home late Sunday afternoon." Me, "You told me you were going to the game on Saturday, you didn't say anything about spending the night and taking a day off of work!" Husband, "Yes I did, you just don't listen. I told you we were leaving early because we are going to play golf on the way up." Me, "What? Golf too? No, you didn't tell me any of this! I had no idea this was a weekend long trip." Hubby, "You just don't listen when I tell you things." So my husbands latest trick is trying to make me believe he has told me things when I know that he hasn't. I am too beat down to fuss. What will it change anyway? I may be crazy but I know if your husband comes up to you and says, "Honey, I'm going to Auburn for 3 days ", you would remember that! So, while I am at home this weekend tending to my beautiful teen, tween, neighborhood kids, dog, fleas, laundry, middle school football games, and any other shitarkie that may hit the fan, my loving husband will be in Auburn all weekend. Oh, he asked if I wanted to go, (this morning) I could have dinner ready for them when the game was over! Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll ground the kids, get out my big girl wine glass, and head off to the over grown weed infested serenity of my back porch. Good Grief!! Did I shave my legs for this???

Putting myself back on the list.
What a crazy week!! My brother and his sweet family were here from California for several days. My 13 yr. old broke his collar bone which cost him the rest of this football season. He is 6ft. tall 180lbs and played center, punter, kickoff, and defensive end. He was heartbroken but we are dealing with it. My 11 yr. old just had a huge birthday party that we are still recovering from. My Boxer,(Spodie) has managed to infest my house with fleas, I think we have got it licked this time...3 bombings later. When my husband isn't working he is online looking at the Auburn website or he is sitting in front of all the ESPN's. There is cooking, laundry, cleaning, school, football, baseball, basketball, boy scouts, church, bills bills bills and my Papa. My grandfather is in the advance stages of Alzheimer's disease. I stay with him during the week some when my Mema needs a break (which is everyday).
So, I'm sitting with my Papa yesterday watching Oprah who had Wynonna Judd on. As they talked about all of Wynonna's troubles she made a statement that made an alarm go off in my head. "Somewhere along the way, I forgot to put myself on the list." I thought, Amen sister! Between my kids and all their extra curricular activities, my husband, this house, my family, and my friends I never have any time for me. I sort of think I don't deserve it, after all I don't have a job. But I do have a job...right? I just don't get paid for it. I don't even get a thank you for it. The only thing I hear is what else needs to be done, what I didn't do, and what I should do. Well today I am putting myself back on the list.....right after I help my friend make some signs for the homecoming parade. ;)Christopher's 1st and last game, he was captain.
